Intimate contemporary landscape study by Nat Ward titled Wildflowers #2. A textured oil and cold wax painting on paper featur

Wildflowers #2 | Nat Ward

SKU: OW26 214

In Wildflowers #2, the landscape is distilled into a single, quiet encounter. This work captures the skeletal beauty and delicate architecture of the Australian undergrowth, where fine stems and vibrant petals emerge from a background of layered, atmospheric wax.

Working on paper allows for a specific kind of soft, tactile detail—where the oil and wax medium can be etched and layered to mimic the organic complexity of the scrub. This piece is a study in 'focused noticing,' inviting the viewer to look past the broad strokes of the landscape and find the resilient, whimsical patterns that exist in the quietest corners of the bush.

  • Artist Note

Notice the fine, etched lines where the waxy surface has been worked to reveal the structure of the flowers. This intimate study asks you to settle into the small details, finding the 'quiet encounter' that occurs when we pause to look at the ground beneath our feet.
