Wildflowers #3 | Nat Ward

SKU: OW26 215

In Wildflowers #3, I explore the rhythmic, skeletal beauty of the scrubland undergrowth. This work focuses on the lean and tilt of native stems as they navigate the space between shadow and light. By using oil and cold wax on paper, I am able to create a surface that feels as organic and fragile as the subjects themselves.

The process of building and incising into the wax allows for the fine, whimsical lines of the wildflowers to emerge from a layered, atmospheric background. This piece is a meditation on the persistence of form in a tangled landscape—an invitation to slow down and appreciate the intricate, quiet harmonies that exist just above the soil. It is a study in finding clarity within the complexity of the bush.

Follow the 'lean' of the branches. This work is an invitation to witness the quiet choreography of the scrubland floor—where every fine line is a record of growth and resilience.
